FAQ
- How should I care for my jewellery?
Although all jewellery is cleaned before packaging, I recommend cleaning the backs of earrings with your own preferred cleaning solution before wearing.
Your jewellery may require an occasional gentle cleaning. I recommend filling a small plastic tub with warm (not hot) water and a drop of washing up liquid. Leave the item to soak for a while to soften any accumulated dirt. Brush the item with a soft toothbrush to loosen any debris, and rinse under clear water. Please make sure to put the plug in, just in case! Dry your jewellery with a soft cloth. A gentle rub with a jewellery polishing cloth should restore the lustre of the metal.
All jewellery will become lightly scratched with wear, and this is considered normal wear and tear. Over time, it will develop a soft patina from these micro-scratches. I do not recommend regularly repolishing jewellery, particularly stone set items, as each polish removes a very thin layer from the surface of the piece, and over-polishing can shorten the life of your jewellery.
While this jewellery has been designed to be suitable for everyday wear, care is still needed to ensure a long life. Gemstones can be damaged by sharp knocks or by crushing. Precious metals can be damaged by exposure to chemicals and cosmetics. I recommend you remove your jewellery when using cleaning products, beauty products, in the swimming pool / hot tubs, etc. Over time, chemical exposure can lead to porosity in metal and compromise the integrity of your jewellery.
- How will my order be packaged?
Your order will arrive in an elegant black presentation box, wrapped in black tissue paper within a protective outer package. To avoid excess waste, I have selected a minimalist style of packaging, in a neat size, made from sustainable materials.
The presentation boxes are made from FSC-certified cardboard and water-based glue. They are produced in Denmark.
The FSC mark guarantees that all materials come from an FSC forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal- and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
The foam inserts are made from "tall oil", a by-product derived from pinewood from paper production. They are 100% free from crude oil.
The presentation boxes and foam inserts are made without unwanted chemicals, as well as tarnish tested, so your jewellery will not get discoloured. They are ideal for long-term storage of your jewellery.
The tissue paper is FSC-certified, chloride and acid free. The protective outer package is made from FSC-certified corrugated cardboard, water based glue, and paper strips. They are produced in Europe.
- Has my jewellery been sustainably produced ?
I do my best! All of my products are made using recycled precious metals. This metal is equal in quality to unrecycled precious metal. All scrap metal from production is refined and reused. I source metal, findings, components, packaging and card inserts from European suppliers.
Packaging for new purchases is recyclable and compostable, with no plastic. Foam inserts are 100% free from crude oil and can be disposed of with general household waste.
Within my workshop, I aim to be mindful, sorting and separating waste, reusing plastic bags, buying tools and equipment second hand. Weather permitting, my workshop runs on solar power. I reuse and recycle as much packaging and mailers as I can, particularly for my trade work.
- Can I purchase jewellery as a gift, or send a gift card?
